Fishing Report August 15, 2019 Ucluelet BC
The large Chinook are chomping in close to shore. We had more double hookups per trip than any year we can remember. It makes sense as this year is predicted to have the largest local run of Chinook in 20 years. The big surprise to us is how large the average size fish is. We are getting many of the Chinook in the 20 lb range. Our afternoon trips have had the best bites and we are spending more time fighting the fish than trying to get them on the line. We are also catching the odd Coho in close to shore. If you haven't already booked, ask us if there are any spots left. Fishing like this doesn't come around very often!
Offshore the fish are still biting in good numbers. We are still getting loads of Chinook, Coho and Halibut when we head out to Big Bank. Halibut are being caught on the troll and by bottom bouncing.
Below are some photos from this past few days.
