Fishing Report: Ucluelet, B.C. August 31, 2017
The Chinook salmon fishing in close has been consistent the past 25 days and most coming in the 15-25lb range. There have also been a few bites at Outside Lighthouse and Southwest Corner. The odd Coho is showing up in close to shore and we expect Coho numbers to increase here as September starts. There are quite a few Coho and smaller Chinook on Big Bank. We expect the inshore fishing will be good through early September for both Chinook and Coho.
Halibut fishing has been a little spotty and we are mostly getting them around the tide change at Big Bank and the Wreck. A few are also being caught up on Long Beach Bank. Ling cod are a favorite of mine and those can be caught in close to shore.
We are booking packages for next year so make sure you get you spot very soon if coming in the busy season from June - September.
If you are looking to get last minute accommodation for Ucluelet or Tofino check out www.tofino-info.com. Accommodation has been tough to find for July and August though may get slightly better for mid September.
