Fishing Report August 27, 2024 Ucluelet BC
We are celebrating 2 groups coming with Salmon Eye guides for 20 years. First we have Al Miller from Kelowna BC who started coming in 2005 when the owner Sam first started the business. Since that first trip Al often comes twice a year for 3 day trips. He has become family and everyone from Salmon Eye knows who he is when he comes to town.
Second we have the "Broads with Rods" group from Vancouver BC who loves the name and has been fishing with our guide Dan for a quarter of a century.. These ladies love fishing and we love seeing their excitement out on the water.!
Both groups come for the Chinook salmon and funny enough that is the favorite of both Sam and Dan.
Chinook salmon fishing
has been more challenging during some mornings around Wya than expected and the afternoon bites have mostly been verygood.
Big Bank is also producing Chinook salmon and there have been some bites at Long Beach which is rare for this time of year. Beg Island and Little Beach are spots where you often see smaller boats and there have been some good bites there too.
Coho salmon fishing
has been very good at Big Bank and there are so many out there you have a hard time keeping your lines down when in the right place. There are also more Coho starting to show up along the shore.
Halibut fishing
continues to be very good and still in spots close to shore which is not normal.
Below are some pics of both groups having a blast catching some very good sized Chinook salmon.
